UNINTECH joined San Antonio Independent School District officials, staff and students, and the San Antonio community for a rededication ceremony for Alamo Stadium, on Saturday, August 16.The ceremony marked the completion of the $35 million renovation of the historic landmark, which began in early 2013. Emcee for the ceremony was KSAT 12 sports broadcaster and Jefferson High School alumni, Greg Simmons. Presenters included SAISD Superintendent Dr. Sylvester Perez, SAISD Board of Trustees President Ed Garza, and SAISD Interim Athletic Director Frank Arnold.
UNINTECH provided structural engineering design for the renovations. The renovations involved the enlargement of the playing field to FIFA regulations along with an eight-lane track, which required the demolition of some lower seats. UNINTECH designed the new press box on the east-side (approximately 3,200 sq.ft.); ADA seating at upper concourse and lower bowl; new field lighting structural support; east-side concourse foundations and ramps; and new north-side locker-room building (approximately 10,000 sq.ft.). The rock wall, which is a signature feature of the stadium, was retrofitted to meet current design engineering standards.
We are also proud to announce that on Thursday, August 7, The Associated Builders & Contractors – South Texas Chapter presented UNINTECH, along with Joeris General Contractors and RVK Architects, with the 2014 ABC – Excellence in Construction Award for the Alamo Stadium historical renovation and additions.
