Old Highway 20 Bridge 155
Client: Travis County
Description
UNINTECH was the prime consultant for this project, which purpose was to improve the existing Bridge 155. The existing one-lane bridge structure spans Gilleland Creek Tributary with an overall bridge length of 140 ft., was replaced to a new two-lane bridge. The improvements were designed to reduce safety issues for drivers and pedestrians who used the existing bridge. The new bridge will also allow easier travel for emergency vehicles. We completed PS&E documents and bid phase services for a replacement bridge using TxDOT criteria. Design included sidewalk for future sidewalk extensions to the adjacent high school. Services included roadway alignment; preparing construction documents; completing land surveys; geotechnical investigations; pavement design; TCP; hydrologic, hydraulic and scouring analysis; environmental assessments; and and acquiring all appropriate regulatory permits and clearances. We monitored project cost and applied cost recovery methodologies such as value engineering; and attended and assisted the county staff with public meetings. Our engineers also provided utility coordination including communication with ATMOS Energy, Austin Utility, Austin Energy, Koch Pipeline and LCRA. We also coordinated with Manor Elementary School to ensure school access for the project.
The project was expedited to be shovel ready for available funding three months earlier than schedule dictated.
